Yesterday, I got a new hot water heater installed. It had the imprints of my Father's hand in my life.
Last weekend, my mother complained that the knob on her hot water heater was too tight for her to turn. She decided to get a new one and give me hers. When the technician went to install her new one however, the pipe didn't fit. She was so kind of arrange for him to fix the new heater at my place instead.
My old heater which I've had for eight years had been giving me problems months ago. I was too busy and reluctant to spend any money on getting a new one. It finally died on me exactly one day before the new heater arrived.
My Father really looks into little matters like this.
Last week, I was in KL for a conference. The speaker shared how he was challenged by Ephesians 3:20,
Now to him who is able to do
immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us...
He said that God spoke to him about being bold in asking God for great things. But after God had answered his request, God told him, "I can do even more that that."

My Father is deeply interested in every part of my life. And he can do far more than I ask or imagine. Another version of that verse says, "
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us."
I have also been reflecting on
Psalm 23 since my father passed away. It was his favourite psalm. It's been very refreshing to read Phillip Keller's out-of-print book,
A Shephard Looks at Psalm 23.
The heater was something I didn't even ask my heavenly Father to do for me. :-)
